The saga of writing a book 2
One thing I found once I had reached about three thousand words was it became easier. It was a little like reading a book. I would get carried away with the characters and be putting them in situations as I was typing almost. Then sometimes I would wake up in the night and think of dialogue or solution to a problem in the flow of the story.
It was strange really but they almost became part of me and I had total control of what they did and said. I did not plan what happened to them either the situations played themselves out as I typed. I sort of made it up as I went along.
After three months I had 78000 words and a universe I can use again and again (Look out for book two I have typed 3000 words already!)
So was it worth taking further? I gave it to a few members of my family to read and their reactions were all positive so I sent it off to some professional editors. I had three quotes the highest was £1250 the lowest from the USA was £450. Guess which one I used! The only USAisums were a few ‘gottens’ which had crept in to the text. Having deleted them I was left with a passable manuscript.
As an aside I tried out Google Earth 3D Rome today, awesome well worth a down load if like me Rome is your thing.
